Assistant Executive Director of Patient Safety

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identify, plans, implements and monitors patient safety programs in decentralized but aligned HMC entities. Ensuring alignment with the Corporate Patient safety goals and the HMC quality strategy

  • Plans and oversees the education and patient safety training to administrative leadership in each of the clinical and corporate departments in areas related to Patient safety programs

  • Facilitates HMC entities AEDs Quality and/or Patient safety work ensuring alignment with the Corporate patient safety goals

  • Manages the design, assessment, and measurement of important patient safety related processes and outcomes that may affect delivery of patient care in a safe manner, corporate and HMC entities operational processes and strategic initiatives

  • Evaluates Corporate, HMC entities departmental needs for patient safety training, data collection and analysis and facilitate resource allocation

  • Promotes the prioritization of patient safety and encourages the alignment of all strategies to this cause

  • Participates in the leadership, development and implementation of the new patient safety campaign

  • Contributes to the strategic relationship with external partners to help ensure alignment of inputs to the needs of HMC.

  • Participates as a coach on the Quality improvement programs ( example: Clinical Care improvement training program)

  • Supports and participates in corporate and HMC entities quality and patient safety committees

  • Ensures the use of appropriate monitoring activities data collection techniques, patient safety methodologies and statistical tools

  • Stays abreast of and applies knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and accreditation standards

  • Performs other duties as required by Executive Director Quality and Safety

Qualifications:

Essential Education: Bachelor in Clinical Field

Required certification/licensure: Certification in Patient Safety Experience:

Essential Experience: 10 years experience of which 5 years experience in healthcare patient safety

Skills: 

Language Skills: English and Arabic preferred

Computer Skills: Proficient in computer application (Windows, MS Office, databases etc), programs, statistical packages process designs

Competencies:

Common Leadership and Professional Competencies:

  • Integrated knowledge and understanding of Patient Safety concepts, practices, systems and procedures

  • Advanced statistical analysis, experimental design, system analysis and process management,

  • Ability to supervise and train employees including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.

  • Strategic program planning and leadership skills

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, mediation and negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
