Chief Radiation Therapist

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Manages, supervises, monitors, and reviews the daily activities of Radiation Therapy Department.

  • Establishes and maintains policies, procedures, standards, job descriptions, and objectives for efficient patient care and departmental operations.

  • Interprets and administers KFSH&RC (Gen. Org.) policies as applicable, ensures compliance, and reports/advises as required.

  • Provides a safe and harmonious environment for all staff.

  • Recommends and assigns suitable staff to the positions available. Evaluates staff performance and makes recommendations to KFSH&RC (Gen. Org:) management as needed.

  • Advises Director, Oncology Centre as needed regarding issues related to Radiation Therapy Department.

  • Liaises with Radiation Oncology, Medical Physics, and Clinical Engineering staff to ensure patient, equipment and safety related issues resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner.

  • Achieves and maintains a close liaison with all Radiation Therapy staff, and ensures regular meetings are held with relevant groups and that agreed decisions are followed.

  • Plans for the future growth of Radiation Therapy at KFSH&RC (Gen. Org.) and within the Kingdom in collaboration with the Head of Radiation Oncology.

  • Develops and recommends department and capital equipment budget. Maintains department budget within allocated funds in collaboration with the Head of Radiation Oncology.

  • Encourages actively Saudi nationals to pursue a career in Radiation Therapy, supports current training facilities, and makes recommendations regarding future training programs in Radiation therapy for Saudi staff.

  • Ensures the accurate statistical data is collated and utilized appropriately for the Department.

  • Recommends and implements improvements in patient care, treatment techniques and staff organization.

  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings, educational programs, current literature conferences, seminars, and workshops.

  • Represents the Department in Committees, Taskforces and other working groups as assigned.

  • Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.

  • Participates in self and others' education, training and development, as applicable.

Education/Qualifications Required: 

Bachelors Degree in Radiation Therapy or country of origin equivalent is required

Valid Board Certification from country of origin

Experience Required:

Ten (10) years of related experience including four (4) years of experience in supervisory or management related position with direct experience in leading and managing a large complex department in a tertiary care facility is required

Other: 

Current Biennial BCLS certification
