Responsibilities / Duties:
Clinical Practice
-
Completes assigned responsibilities within established hospital, divisional and unit specific guidelines, policies and procedures, standards protocols, etc.
-
Actively participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of unit-based orientation and skills competency assessments
-
Maintains high visibility (90% clinical presence) on area(s) of responsibility
-
Evaluates and instructs staff and students in the performance of direct patient care and clinical documentation
-
Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating skills development programs for staff/students in coordination with Nurse Manager and Nursing Education Department and faculty(s)
-
Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with parents/families, other health care team members and members of other departments
Administration
-
Refers staff and students performance concerns to Nurse Managers
-
Acts as a resource to staff and student for patient care related skills and knowledge
-
Maintains all records pertaining to the operation of the area of assignment and generates reports as required
Education & Research
-
Assesses learning needs of staff and student for patient care related skills and knowledge
-
Maintains all records pertaining to the operation of the area of assignment and generates reports as required
-
Assesses learning needs of staff and students and develops learning plans in conjunction with the Nurse Manager, Nursing Education and University Faculty
-
Maintains documentation related to staff and students developmental needs and action plans
-
Assumes responsibility for own professional growth
-
Participates in teaching and mentoring of Nursing, Medical and Paramedical students, Interns and Residents

Assumes leadership role in quality improvement activities in clinical area(s)

Works with all health care team members in activities designed for the improvement of patient care outcomes

Develops, implements and participates in Quality improvement processes and activities

Complies with hospital infection control and safety protocols

Qualifications Required:
-
Registered Nurse with current Nursing Licensure
-
Bachelor Degree in Nursing (preferred) or Diploma in Nursing
-
Specific certification as required in area of assignment
Experience Required:
-
Three (3) years current clinical experience in specific area
-
Previous experience in teaching role (preferred)
