Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Manages and maintains the web-based system for manuscript management and peer review, training and overseeing the Editorial assistants (ScholarOne Manuscripts and Editorial Manager)

  • Manages and maintains the web-based content management system for electronic publishing of the journals, training and overseeing the editorial assistants

  • Manages and maintains and editorial process, training and overseeing the clinical assistant editor, editorial assistants and any external copyeditors hired on a temporary basis

  • Manages and maintains the print publication process, training and overseeing layout and print production

  • Performs substantive, language and copyediting of text and statistical graphics and Images in manuscripts as necessary at the finals stage of the review process for clarity, accuracy, precision, readability, technical and structural accuracy in standard scientific English. Ensures strict conformity with journal style, with final verification that all reviewers suggested changes have been address in detail.

  • Edits, rewrites as necessary, particularly for authors non-English native speakers

  • Serves as a member of Editorial Board, oversees preparation of meeting agenda and editorial correspondence

  • Supervises the development and maintenance of computerized subscription list of the journals

  • Directs the preparation of photography and other illustrations, and translating and printing of Arabic abstracts

  • Participates in self and others’ education, training and development as applicable

  • Follows all hospital related policies and procedures

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in allied medical sciences (nursing, physical therapy, clinical laboratory, etc.)

Experience Required:

  • Six (6) years’ experience in editing for a medical publication or book publisher, including two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity. Analysing and presenting scientific data a plus.
