Consultant - Endocrinology

Responsibilities / Duties:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provides high quality care and management of patients in this area of medicine.

  • Attends specialty clinic.

  • Provides consultative service as requested.

  • Shares on-call schedule for the Department of Medicine as needed.

  • Performs special procedures as required.

  • Participates in committees and other administrative functions as needed.

  • Participates in research activities.

  • Supervises fellows, assistant physicians and residents.

  • Participates actively in the training and teaching of residents and fellows in his/her area of expertise.

  • Participates actively in the educational activity of the Section.

  • Participates actively in the educational activity of the Department of Medicine.

  • Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.

  • Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.

Academic Responsibilities

  • Directs and advises junior staff on patient management, especially in the field of Endocrinology

  • Guides and actively participates in the training and teaching of Residents, Fellows, Assistant Consultant and junior staff

  • Keeps abreast with all the latest techniques and developments, especially in the field of Endocrinology, following and implementing them on a selective basis to improve technical standards

  • Actively participates in the educational activities and training programs of the department

  • Participates in national and international medical conferences

Research Responsibilities

  • Participates in clinical basic and translational research projects and publishes papers in accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy in order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to the national and international recognition of KFSH&RC

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Undertakes the administration duties assigned by Head of Section or Chair of the department

  • Participates in all mandatory departmental activities and serves on departmental and hospital committees, as required

  • Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximise the utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital

  • Abide by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies keeps updated of any changes that might occur

Qualifications Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school

  • Completed their specialty with sub-specialty training in North America, Canada or European board certification or their equivalent is required American Board Certification or equivalent

  • Saudi, Arab or American Board Certification or equivalent

  • Membership and/or Fellowship status in the United Kingdom and/or North America, or their equivalent

Experience Required:

  • Clinical expertise must be equal or greater than 7 years. Has worked in the specialty/sub-specialty as a Consultant for at least two years and demonstrates great interest in research and teaching
