Retention Officer

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Monitors staff retention and satisfaction both quantitatively and qualitatively and analyses nursing exit database information to determine trends

  • Diagnoses turnover risk and develops strategies to effectively reduce nursing turnover

  • Monitors ongoing operations with the retention program and takes appropriate action to correct identified variances of performance

  • Monitors international trends and practices retention

  • Develops and executes a Nursing Affairs wide strategic Nursing Retention plan incorporating continuous retention and recognition improvement projects in partnership with Nursing Executive

  • Assesses and monitors Nursing Affairs ongoing retention performance against strategic Nursing plan

  • Leads a comprehensive dedicated Nurse Recognition & Retention Committee for addressing short and long-term retention issues. Serves as a contributing member on assigned councils, committees and tasks forces as assigned

  • Participates in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication and teamwork. Treats, colleagues, patients and visitors with dignity and respect at all times

  • Actively welcomes new staff/students to Nursing Affairs and participates in retention activities contributes to the retention of all staff to meet Nursing Affairs turnover rate goal.

  • Participates in retention activities and has open door policy in respect to staff seeking assistance

  • Demonstrates collaborative multi-disciplinary partnerships working towards the achievements of contract improvement in quality patient care by ensuring staff issues are death with in a timely manner

  • Promotes a safe environment for all by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas fo risk to Supervisor. Complies with policies for personal safety and for the prevention of healthcare associated infections

  • Contributes to the achievement of cost efficiency savings in assigned area by promoting the retention of staff. Maintains an awareness of resource utilization

  • Assesses and monitors unit and Nursing wide turnover rates and trends and provides feedback and suggestions to Nursing Leadership. Utilizes data provided by other Departments including Nursing Practice & Research and Quality Management Department staff satisfaction surveys.

  • Contributes to the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction by monitoring staff satisfaction and addressing issues. Participates in Performance

  • Improvement activities as assigned Contributes to special projects/assignments linked to nursing strategic priorities as assigned

  • Participates in new staff orientation and acts as a resource for all new nursing arrivals

  • Contributes to increasing the number of Saudi nurses across Nursing Affairs by actively working with Saudi nurses to address retention issues

  • Contributes to the achievement of successful implementation of Oracle and clinical information systems

  • Develops and evaluates policies and procedures that have measureable impact on retention

  • Develops and sustains documented evidence of performance and maintenance of skills consistent with position

  • Upholds the organizational values at all times

  • Follow all Hospital related policies and procedures

  • Participates in self and other’s education, training and development, as applicable

  • Performs any other related duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing

  • Registered Nurse with country specific post registration program required

  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure

Experience Required:

  • Six (6) years of acute care hospital nursing experience required, including two (2) years in a leadership position required
