Senior Technologist, General Radiology

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Acts as a reference in their section

  • Assists supervisor in ensuring proper work standards implemented in general section

  • Reviews exam orders/requisitions, reviews corresponding protocol and, if needed, asks questions of senior(s) and prepares for exams

  • Identifies patients following the hospital identification policy

  • Explains procedures to patients. Prepares equipment, supplies.

  • Positions patient and attaches or adjusts immobilizing and shielding devices to ensure precise patient position, patient comfort and to minimize patient exposure to x-rays

  • Selects and adjusts if needed proper sitting for each projects to produce proper images

  • Monitors patient condition during and after procedure to ensure patient safety and comfort. Retrieves information from computer and processes information in the proper format for interpretation by the Radiologist and/or archiving

  • Evaluates completed tests for quality and completeness. Documents all studies performed

  • Performs quality control studies on equipment. Informs supervisor of equipment malfunction or need for repair and documents

  • Cleans equipment and room and restores all equipment and supplies for subsequent use

  • Participates in staff meetings, in-services and/or continuing education

  • Assists in training and supervision of students, interns and trainees

  • Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures

  • Participates in self and others; education, training and development as applicable

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Qualifications Required:

  • Graduate from a professional program in Radiologic Technology

  • Minimum two (2) year program from North America

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of hospital radiology experience is required for Bachelor of Science degree holders or minimum four (4) years for Associate and diploma successful completion of Registration in Radiography with American Registry of Radiographic Technologists or the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists or equivalent required
