Ultrasound Technologist II

Responsibilities / Duties:

Set-up and operate relevant medical imaging equipment in order to carry out ultrasound procedures.

Assist and perform all Ultrasound procedures for all types of patient as requested using appropriate equipment and ensure availability of images with all required information in the
-
Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) as soon procedures are completed

Record preliminary notes and organ measurements for the Radiologists

Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients, ensuring communication with patients and staff is meaningful and professional

Fully inform patient and/or relatives that the nature and extent of the ultrasound procedure to be performed

Ensure patient safety and care is provided during ultrasound procedures. Also seeks to maintain patient confidentiality rights and privacy at all times

Ensure that correct patient identification and site verification checks are undertaken for each examination
-
As part of a team, select the proper equipment, accessories and techniques in order to obtain the highest image quality. Handle equipment and related accessories safely and responsibly and report faulty equipment to appropriate people

Participate in the implementation of the departmental strategic plan

Participate in the development, review of all hospital and departmental policies, procedures and protocols

Cover the medical imaging department during the working shifts/on calls as scheduled and during emergencies and disaster as requested

Ensure timely completion of all scheduled work and escalates any delays with senior staff
-
Keep abreast with current trends in ultrasound technology, ensure all applicable licenses and or trainings are current including Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Assist senior staff to supervise and train radiology students and new staff in performing all duties as assigned

Follow the established International Patient Safety Goals

Perform other job related duties as required
Qualifications Required:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Radiological Sciences or related field or equivalent
-
Current certification/registration/license to practice in Ultrasound
Experience Required:
-
Minimum of two (2) years in Ultrasound or post (1) year SCDP in Ultrasound

English Language Skills: Essential

Arabic Language Skills: Preferred

Computer Skills: Level II Essential
