
Cardiac Critical Care Consultant
Summary
Responsible to provide expertise in all aspects of pediatrics cardiac surgery as indicated and signed in clinical privilege form. Knowledge and experience in congenital cardiac surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery is a bonus and is encouraged but not mandatory.
Education / Qualification Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides the highest level of patient care and management in the field of cardiac ICU
- Actively participates in daily rounds, training and teaching of assistants, residents and fellows in his/her area of expertise
- Participates on 24 hour on call coverage
- Admits patients to wards under his/her care and is responsible for their medical care and management including coordinating with other surgeons. Some aspects of care may be delegated to assisted by the overall responsibility remain his/her
- Makes informed decisions on type of treatment
- Performs pediatric cardiac surgical procedures in operating room as indicated in the signed clinical privileges form
- Sees referred patients in outpatients clinics
- Participates in research activities
- Participates in committees and other administrative functions as needed
- Works together with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, Intensivists and nursing toward the wellbeing of his/her patient
- Attends to VIPs in the VIP protocol clinics and home visits as needed
- Follows all Hospital policies and procedures
- Participates in self and others’ education, training and development, as applicable
