Clinical Dietitian Supervisor

  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the HMC mission, vision and values

  • Ensure that all clinical nutritional aspects of patient care are exercised according to established policies and procedures.

  • Assist in education and training and provide guidance and technical assistance to Senior Clinical Dietitians, Clinical dietitians and Assistant Clinical Dietitians about clinical Nutritional Aspects of patient care according to policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate and direct workflow among Senior Clinical Dietitians ,Clinical Dietitians and Assistant Clinical Dietitians.

  • Assist the Facility Head Dietician in developing plans and procedures for nutrition therapy practice.

  • Promote team work among staff.

  • Enhance relations with Nursing and medical staff as part of a multidisciplinary team work ethic.

  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds

  • Monitor and evaluate performance of Senior Clinical Dietitians ,Clinical Dietitians and Assistant Clinical Dietitians.

  • Performs HR administrative duties such as staff appraisals, interviews, and prepares duty rosters.

  • Update Head Dietitian about workflow and other work related issues on regular basis.

  • Conduct and participate in education sessions for dietetics and other health care professionals as required

  • Resolves daily matters of department functions as per delegation of his/her supervisors

  • Participates in hospital/ departmental/Program committees as required

  • Cover Dietician weekend duty or On-Call as required

  • Deputises for the Facility Head Dietician when required.

  • Performs other duties as requested

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Facility Head Dietician in setting the frame work of clinical nutrition practice in wards and clinics

  • Assist in developing HMC policies related to the nutrition and dietetic service

  • Empower and enhance the skills of subordinate staff to achieve the delivery of a quality service for patients

  • Recommend changes that can promote the clinical nutrition service delivered on wards & in clinics

  • Assist in conducting clinical nutrition research as required

  • Assist in preparing dietary education materials

  • Participate in community nutritional activities

  • Supervise and educate dietetic interns and visiting dieticians

  • Initiate appropriate resolutions and recommendations to address patients' complaints.

  • Reviews clinical issues, requirements and arrangements

Specific Competencies:

Demonstrates strong working knowledge of:

  • Nutritional assessment of referred patients to determine their nutrient needs and develop appropriate care plan.

  • Monitoring implementation of nutrition plans and assesses patients’ progress to adjust therapy plans and attain optimum nutrition.

  • Coordinating plans and conducting programs to educate patients about nutrition issues, diet and food selections.

  • Documenting records and processes information to assess therapy outcomes

  • Maintaining professional growth and development through different in - service training activities to keep pace with technological developments and new trends in nutrition therapy

  • Ensures interdisciplinary input to attain full potential teamwork

Required Education/Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

B.Sc. Degree in Dietetics/Nutrition or equivalent from a recognized university


3 years High Diploma in Nutrition after Completion of High school for those who joined HMC prior to 2012

Preferred Education: B.Sc. and M.Sc. Degrees in Dietetics/Nutrition or equivalent from a recognized university

Required certification/licensure: Valid Primary License from the country of origin if applicable AND should be eligible for license in the State of Qatar within the Supreme Council of Health

Required Experience:

Minimum: For Bachelors Degree and High Diploma Holders: 6 years experience of which at least 4 years must be in a hospital setting as a Clinical Dietician and 2 years as a Senior Clinical Dietitian or equivalent


For Master Degree Holders: 4 years experience of which at least two years must be in a hospital setting as a Clinical Dietician and 2 years as a Senior Clinical Dietitian or equivalent


Language Skills:

English Very good

Arabic Preferred

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
