Summary

The role holder is responsible for practicing and promoting the highest possible standards of patient care according to clinical privileges and available resources in assigned specialty or department. Participates in the training and teaching program of King Saud University Medical City.

Education / Qualification Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand. 
      • USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
  • Experience in Oncology Surgery is a must

License:

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Complies and adheres to the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff, departmental and clinical policies, procedures and objectives; continuous quality improvements objectives, safety, environmental and infection control standards; and abide by the rules and regulations of the College of Medicine
  2. Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for his/her patients
  3. Carries out full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by the Chairman of the department in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges
  4. Reviews, examines, diagnose, treats and refers patients by conducting interviews, performing physical examination; creating, updating and studying patients’ medical records
  5. Collects, records, and maintains patient information and documentation such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
  6. Performs and carries out on-call duties within a reasonable period of time as required by the Provides health education to patient and family.
  7. Protects patients and colleagues by promoting awareness and adhering to infection control policies and standard protocols
  8. Mentors and teaches staff, trainees and students for training and education purposes
  9. Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Quality Management Program, Quality Assessment Improvement Program) as required
  10. Participates in and actively supports research projects and activities
  11. Deputizes for his/her superior as required and shares the coverage workload in his/her specialty during the absence of equivalent in an assignment
  12. Undertakes continuous medical education as required of Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and KSUMC to improve clinical expertise and develops professional and technical medical knowledge; Maintains awareness of new medical techniques, medications and medical technologies
  13. Participates in the forward planning and implementation for further development of the department and assists in updating protocols and principles of medical practices as appropriate
  14. Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of KSUMC, as indicated
  15. Performs multiple aspects of scope of practice and adheres to clinical privileges of the department as determined by King Saud University Medical City
  16. Builds and maintains a harmonious relationship with their patients and establish a strong professional environment with other health care members and other physicians
  17. Serves in KSUMC Committees as requested
  18. Writes an official delegation of all responsibilities and assignments prior to leave/vacation
  19. Performs other job related duties as assigned as per to the policy within the entity assigned
