Summary

Within the mission, vision, and values of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, the Consultant in Prosthodontics provides specialized care in the restoration and replacement of missing or damaged teeth. The consultant is responsible for diagnosing, planning, and executing complex prosthodontic treatments, supervising and mentoring junior dental staff, engaging in research, and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and manage patients requiring prosthetic dental treatment, including full-mouth rehabilitations, fixed and removable prostheses, implant-supported restorations, and maxillofacial prosthetics.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based prosthodontic techniques.
  • Perform advanced restorative procedures, including crowns, bridges, veneers, dentures, and implant-supported restorations.
  • Collaborate with oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, and other specialists in complex rehabilitation cases.
  • Supervise and mentor Associate Consultants, Assistant Consultants, residents, and dental students in prosthodontic procedures and treatment planning.
  • Utilize digital dentistry techniques, including CAD/CAM technology, 3D printing, and intraoral scanning, for precise treatment planning and execution.
  • Provide consultations and expert opinions on complex prosthodontic cases referred by other dental and medical professionals.
  • Participate in clinical research and academic activities to advance the field of prosthodontics and support continuous professional development.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, patient safety measures, and quality assurance standards in prosthodontic care.
  • Engage in hospital-wide dental health awareness programs and patient education initiatives.
