Summary

Responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid diseases, metabolic disorders, and other hormonal imbalances. May refer patients to other specialists as needed for further treatment.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: The American Board of Endocrinology
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRACPC – Endocrinology)
      • UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST/CESR and joined GMC/IMC Specialty Register 
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP – Endocrinology)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of full-time experience as Endocrinologist after receiving Board/Equivalent certification.
  • At least 1 year of experience at a Public/Government hospital or Academic Hospital.

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provides patient care and management in the field of Endocrinology in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Diagnoses and treats endocrine disorders such as diabetes, thyroid diseases, pituitary and adrenal gland disorders, osteoporosis, and metabolic disorders.
  • Conducts comprehensive patient assessments and develops individualized treatment plans.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Manages acute and chronic endocrine conditions, ensuring evidence-based treatment and follow-up care.
  • Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, including collaboration with dietitians, primary care physicians, and other specialists.
  • Provides consultations and guidance to other departments regarding endocrine-related conditions.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with hospital policies.

Academic Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and trains junior medical staff, residents, and fellows in the field of Endocrinology.
  • Participates in continuing medical education (CME) programs and professional development initiatives.
  • Stays updated with advancements in Endocrinology and implements new evidence-based practices when appropriate.
  • Engages in departmental training programs and workshops.
  • Attends and presents at national and international medical conferences.

Research Responsibilities:

  • Participates in clinical and translational research projects related to Endocrinology.
  • Publishes research findings in peer-reviewed medical journals to contribute to the advancement of the field.
  • Collaborates with research institutions and academic centers on endocrine-related studies.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes administrative duties as assigned by the Head of the Section or Department Chair.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of protocols and guidelines to enhance patient care and optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital regulations, medical bylaws, and accreditation standards.
