Summary

As a Senior Consultant, you will be the most experienced physician within your specialty, apart from the Department Chair and Section Head, overseeing a team of Consultants and junior doctors. You will be responsible for patient care, ensuring the highest clinical standards while supervising and guiding medical decisions made by your team. Beyond patient care, you will play a key role in service development, budgeting, staffing, and training junior doctors. Your leadership will extend to academic and research priorities, contributing to HMC’s vision of becoming an Academic Health System. Research and education are integral parts of this role, requiring active participation in clinical training, mentorship, and innovative healthcare advancements to enhance patient care. Education/Qualifications Required:

1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
2. Post-qualification certification
   • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
     • USA: American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR)
     • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) – PM&R
     • UK & Ireland: CCT in Rehabilitation Medicine and GMC Specialist Register
     • Australia & New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) – Rehabilitation Medicine
     • Western Europe: Equivalent board certification

Experience Post-Qualifications:

• Minimum (6) years of experience as a Consultant in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
• Minimum (1) year of experience in a senior position.

License:

• Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Adheres to Hamad Medical Corporation policies and guidelines.
• Provides high-quality patient care, including diagnosing, treating, managing, and admitting patients under their name.
• Supervises junior medical staff and ensures clinical decision-making aligns with best practices.
• Conducts ward rounds and oversees inpatient and outpatient treatment.
• Prepares regular reports on unit activities for department leadership.
• Participates in hospital committees to improve service delivery and hospital operations.
• Engages in department development planning and staff training programs for medical, technical, and nursing teams.
• Supports medical education and research initiatives.
• Performs all relevant interventions within their field of specialization.
• Contributes to health education programs through orientations and presentations.
• Participates in on-call duty schedules and provides on-call services.
• Assesses and updates medication, medical supply, and equipment needs.
• Writes and approves medical reports for patients.
• Provides expert guidance and consultation to other departments when needed.
• Maintains up-to-date clinical privileges and complies with revalidation guidelines.
• Obtains and maintains a valid SCH License to practice in Qatar.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Chairperson/Department Head.
