Summary
Within the mission, vision, and values of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, the Consultant in Internal Medicine provides comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The consultant ensures high standards of patient care, supervises and trains junior physicians, participates in academic and research activities, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Education / Qualification Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABIM)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPS or CCFP- Internal Medicine)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register – Internal Medicine
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College – Internal Medicine (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides patient care that meets or exceeds the standards set by the JCIA.
- Provides inpatient care and runs outpatient clinics in his/her name and responsibility.
- These services are in the field of Internal Medicine.
- Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions for which he/she has been granted specific privileges based on his/her training, experience and skills.
- Provides consultations to physicians in other specialties or subspecialties.
- Participates in Internal Medicine on-call rotations, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Section and the Department of Medicine.
- Provides close supervision of the clinical performance and activity of subordinates, especially those in training.
- Actively participates in the educational programs of the hospital, particularly the Residency/Fellowship training program.
- Fulfills his/her obligations related to Patient Medical Records.
- Actively participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Participates in approved clinical research activities.
- Serves in committees as appointed by the Head of the Section, the Chairman of Medicine or the Executive Director, Medical Services, WR.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Head of Section, the Chairman of Medicine or the Executive Director, Medical Services, WR.
