Lead Cardiovascular Technologist

Summary

This position is responsible for organizing, managing, directing and standardizing cardiovascular diagnostics testing practices, including staffing schedules, staff procedures, equipment determinations, education, research and quality improvement programs.

Education / Qualification Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular program or Allied Health specialized program in Cardiovascular Technology (minimum two (2) year curriculum) is required

                                     OR 

  • Graduation from an approved Cardiovascular Technology of Clinical Physiology (cardiology) program leading to a degree of at least three (3) years diploma or a three (3) year diploma in Radiography is preferred
  • BLS is required
  • ACLS is recommended

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience (Cath lab, Vascular, Echocardiography, or ECG) is required 

License:

  • Current and clean medical license to practice in country/state of origin
  • Registration with cardiovascular credentialing international, the American registry of diagnostic medical sonographers, UK registration council for clinical physiologists, the Canadian association of cardiopulmonary technologists or The Society of Cardiopulmonary Technology New Zealand or equivalent is required

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages operational activities of all cardiovascular diagnostic inpatient and outpatient areas
  • Develops and implements staffing procedures to maintain an appropriate staffing mix throughout all clinical diagnostic areas
  • Standardizes computerized  management information systems to meet the operational needs of all clinical diagnostic areas
  • Promotes teamwork and uniformity for all clinical diagnostic areas
  • Researches and evaluates new technological developments and advances in clinical practices
  • Serves as a consultant to physicians, nurses and other departments relating to clinical diagnostics practices
  • Develops and implements process improvement initiatives
  • Develops quality improvement programs that ensure compliance with established regulations and guidelines
  • Plans and develops goals for each clinical diagnostics area
  • Formulates, interprets and enforces policies, procedures and best practices
  • Collaborates with other clinical diagnostics personnel to develop
