Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and design of nursing care and interventions in the Neonatal Critical Care departmnet. Function under a collaborative management model where Medicine and Nursing jointly participate in decisions.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience post qualification
  • Minimum One (1) year in Neonatal Critical Care 

License:

Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill neonates in the NICU.
  • Perform detailed, ongoing assessments of respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and metabolic status.
  • Manage invasive monitoring including arterial lines, central lines, and continuous blood pressure monitoring.
  • Care for neonates requiring mechanical ventilation, high frequency ventilation, CPAP, and oxygen therapy.
  • Administer and titrate critical medications such as inotropes, prostaglandins, surfactant, sedation, and antibiotics.
  • Manage TPN, lipid infusions, blood products, and complex IV therapy with strict fluid balance monitoring.
  • Assist with emergency procedures including intubation, chest tube insertion, umbilical line placement, and neonatal resuscitation.
  • Recognize early signs of sepsis, NEC, IVH, respiratory failure, and hemodynamic instability and escalate immediately.
  • Provide pre and post operative care for neonates undergoing surgical interventions.
  • Support thermoregulation using incubators and radiant warmers for extremely low birth weight infants.
  • Deliver family centered care, guiding parents through critical illness, treatment plans, and discharge preparation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of critical assessments, ventilator settings, medication titration, and patient responses.
  • Collaborate closely with neonatologists, pediatric subspecialists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in neonatal critical care audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality improvement projects.
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor for junior NICU staff.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention, medication safety, and NICU protocols.
  • Demonstrate accountability, critical thinking, and independent clinical judgment in high acuity situations.
  • Perform additional critical care related duties as required.
