Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and design of nursing care and interventions in the Neonatal Department. Function under a collaborative management model where Medicine and Nursing jointly participate in decisions.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience post qualification
  • Minimum One (1) year in the Neonatal Department 

License:

Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to premature and full term neonates in NICU or Special Care Nursery.
  • Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments including respiratory status, thermoregulation, feeding tolerance, and neurological signs.
  • Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, blood glucose levels, and fluid balance accurately.
  • Manage and monitor respiratory support such as CPAP, mechanical ventilation, and oxygen therapy as prescribed.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, TPN, and blood products safely according to neonatal protocols.
  • Assist with neonatal procedures including intubation support, line insertions, and emergency resuscitation.
  • Recognize early signs of deterioration and escalate concerns promptly to the neonatology team.
  • Support developmental care practices that promote neuroprotection and family centered care.
  • Educate and support parents on breastfeeding, kangaroo care, infection prevention, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain precise documentation of assessments, interventions, and clinical responses.
  • Adhere to infection control and patient safety standards within the neonatal unit.
  • Collaborate closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in neonatal quality improvement initiatives and evidence based practice updates.
  • Serve as a mentor and clinical resource for junior nurses and students.
  • Maintain professional accountability within RN scope of practice and hospital policies.
  • Perform additional unit related duties as assigned.
