Summary

Within the mission, vision, and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, the Consultant in Orthodontics provides specialized care in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. The consultant is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, supervising and training dental staff, participating in research, and contributing to the advancement of orthodontic services.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat malocclusions, dental misalignments, and facial growth abnormalities using evidence-based orthodontic techniques.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including the use of fixed and removable appliances such as braces, aligners, and functional devices.
  • Supervise and mentor Associate Consultants, Assistant Consultants, residents, and dental students in orthodontic treatment planning and techniques.
  • Perform advanced orthodontic procedures, including interdisciplinary treatments in collaboration with oral and maxillofacial surgeons, prosthodontists, and periodontists.
  • Utilize modern digital technology, including 3D imaging, digital scanning, and computer-aided design for treatment planning and case management.
  • Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Provide consultations and expert opinions on complex orthodontic cases referred by other dental and medical specialists.
  • Participate in clinical research and academic activities to advance the field of orthodontics and contribute to continuous professional development.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control measures, patient safety protocols, and quality assurance standards in orthodontic care.
  • Engage in hospital-wide dental health awareness initiatives and educational programs for patients and staff.
