Summary

Within the mission, vision, and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard  Health Affairs, the Pathology  Consultant is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and conditions, as well as the provision of medical care in the field of Pathology in accordance with current medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and organizational policies and procedures in Saudi Arabia

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and interpret a wide range of vascular and interventional radiology procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, embolization, thrombolysis, and image-guided biopsies.
  • Provide consultation and management plans for patients requiring interventional radiology services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment strategies for vascular and non-vascular conditions.
  • Ensure patient safety and adherence to radiation protection protocols during procedures.
  • Supervise and train Associate Consultants, Assistant Consultants, and radiology residents in interventional techniques and best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide emergency interventional procedures as required.
  • Engage in research, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of new interventional technologies.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and evidence-based clinical guidelines.
  • Educate patients and families on interventional procedures, risks, benefits, and post-procedure care.
  • Contribute to hospital-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing radiology services and patient outcomes.
