Section Head - ICU

  • Defines, develops and promotes their Section’s mission statement

  • Presents information given to him/her by the Chair and the Hospital Administration to the Section members

  • Creates and ensures a collegial and professional working relationship between all the Section members

  • Ensures that representation and attendance of Section members to educational activities, meetings, task force and hospital committees and requests a quarterly feedback in writing from Section members to the Chair

  • Appoints or recommends section members to work groups and Hospital committees

  • Conducts Section Management meetings in compliance with Departmental guidelines

  • Evaluates staff’s performance and recommends merit increase to the Chair

  • Delegates administrative/educational authorities to members of the Section

  • Assesses continuous staff requirements within the Section and recommends recruitment

  • Develops, implements and constantly reviews the Section services including inpatient, outpatient and consultation services and ensure collaboration with other Departments, e.g.

  • Nursing Services, Appointment & Admission Services, etc.

  • Ensures adequate coverage in emergency situations

  • Develops and revises clinical pathways for the Section

  • Ensures that adequate educational activities are carried out in his/her Section and if needed to implement and construct new activities

  • Ensures that all members of his/her Section are actively participating in educational activities

  • Prepares a list of education sessions and staff participation in Departmental, Interdepartmental and Hospital-wide education activities

  • Ensures development of educational material to other Section members, fellows, residents, nurses and other staff who are interested in obtaining such educational material

  • Ensures development and maintenance of an up-to-date resident teaching program and fellowship program

  • Organizes regular meetings to discuss the implementation and progress of research projects

  • Follows all Hospital-related policies and procedures

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


  • Graduate from a medical school of good standing

  • Completion of required period of training in specialty and/or subspecialty

  • North American Board Certification or equivalent


  • Should have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a tertiary care center, post Board certification (or the relevant equivalence)

  • Leadership Experience

  • Medical Research merits strong consideration

  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals are highly desirable


  • English - Level I Essential

  • Arabic Languages Skills - Preferred

  • Computer Skills - Intermediate Level Essential
