Summary

Responsible for the overall management and organization of the Cellular Therapy Lab. Directs, develops, implements and updates internal standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Assure quality care services, staff competencies and privileges are appropriate and maintained.

Education / Qualification Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college or equivalent
  • Master’s in related clinical degree or in Healthcare field.
  • PHD in related clinical degree or in Healthcare field.

Experience:

  • Minimum Eight (8) years of relevant experience if holding Bachelor Degree
  • Minimum Three (3) years of relevant experience if holding Master Degree
  • Minimum Two (2) years of relevant experience if holding PhD
  • Post-doctoral experience and/or training related to cellular therapy laboratory operation
  • Experience with computerization

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Managerial
  • Work closely with the medical director to administers effective treatment services during normal and extended working hours as well as in an emergency call out. And to advise hospital management on all matters of policy relating to the operation and maintenance of the Cellular Therapy.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed statistical records of the department work load and provide an analysis of this data as required.
  • Provides annually at the request of the Purchasing Department a detailed list of requirements for the consumables and capital budgets with specifications and costing where necessary.
  • Sits as a member of any committee to which nominated.
  • Establishes and maintains policies and procedures for the cell therapy laboratory.
  • Directs distribution, allocation and rotation of staff and staff activities.
Technical
  • Monitors the efficiency of the Cellular Therapy service regarding techniques, quality assurance, patient care and workflow patterns.
  • Approves and ensure maintenance of protocols for the cell therapy laboratory in consultation with the Consultant Transfusion Medicine and section head.
  • Continually endeavors to improve the general quality of care and technical standards of the department.
Specific Roles
  • The role is required to establish a new Stem Cell/ Cellular Therapy Laboratory. The Clinical Scientist will make sure that all services follow all applicable rules and procedures. Supervision over all aspects of the scientific and technical operations, oversee the processing of cellular therapy product in preparation for infusion. Will assist the head of department in managing the service on a daily basis
  • The role will involve the managing of projects in cell therapy laboratories including budget procedures and management/coaching of employees. Responsible for cell therapy quality testing and cellular characterization, including cell culture, potency testing and viabilities
