
Senior Consultant Pathology – Clinical Scientist
Summary
Provides administrative and expert support in a clinical specialty to the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.
Education/Qualifications Required:
Basic medical degree from recognized institution
Post-qualification certification
Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
USA: The American Board of Pathology (AB Path)
Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPS)
UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
Experience Post-Qualifications:
Minimum One (1) year of experience post board certification as a Senior Consultant or
Minimum Six (6) year of experience post board certification as a Consultant
Advanced training and experience in transplant immunology
Advanced training and experience in clinical lab immunology
Track record of scholarship (publications, presentations, etc.)
License:
Valid and in a good standing Medical License in current country of practice
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides administrative support for an assigned section within the Dept.
- Hold responsibility for the both the clinical and technical operation of an assigned section.
- Develops and performs state-of-the-art diagnostic methods related to the needs of the Dept.
- Trains and assists personnel in the proper implementation and operation of procedures.
- Verifies and approves quality control and external proficiency reports.
- Participates in instruction and training of staff, residents, fellows, and students in the section.
- Undertakes clinical research as principle investigator or co-investigator in collaboration with others according to the needs of the department.
- Promotes professional and organizational development of the section in consultation with the department Chair.
- Ensures the section adheres to corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains an ongoing program for continuing education through lectures, presentations, and case histories.
- Reviews, interprets, and releases patient results of diagnostic tests.
- Provides consultation and interpretation laboratory test results to HMC medical staff
- Performs other duties as assigned by the department chair
