Transplant Coordination Team Leader

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Organizing and supervising the daily activities of the organ coordination section. Including pre-transplant assessments, consultations, recipient inclusion on the waiting list, admission/discharge from hospital, organ procurement, donation activities from deceased and living donors and follow up plans

  • Developing and revising protocols, policies and procedures of organ coordination

  • Liaising and coordinating collaborative efforts of the organ coordination section with other team within the OTC, other KFSH&RC departments and other institutions to ensure optimum healthcare provision for transplant recipients and organ donors and facilitate identification and resolution of issues related to the coordination services.

  • Establishing guidelines for the accurate collection and proper filing of all organ coordinators documentation and ensuring completeness of documentation

  • Overseeing the administration for organ coordination section including scheduling and assigning tasks to other coordinators

  • Covering transplant clinical coordinators as needed

  • Participating in selecting training and annually evaluating transplant clinical coordinators

  • Attending clinical rounds, other related meetings and participating in committees as assigned

  • Participating and contributing to the research activities of the centre including involvement in data collection, dissemination and reporting

  • Participating in the professional development and training of clinical transplant coordinators

  • Following and monitoring highest standards of professional and ethical codes of conduct

  • Complying with all related policies and procedures

  • Performing other related duties and tasks as required

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Registered Nurse with country specific post registration program

  • Current registered nursing license

  • American Board of Transplant Coordinator Certificate or equivalent is preferred 

Experience Required:

  • At least Seven (7) years of hospital experience in acute care setting including 5 years in critical care setting and at least 2 years transplant experience required
