Trauma Registry Manager

  • Take a lead role, in conjunction with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager, in the development and implementation of strategic and business plans for the trauma registry, trauma service, and HMC trauma system

  • Conduct statistical reports and participate in development of strategic plans for patient care improvement and appropriate resource allocation across the HMC trauma system

  • Responsible for identifying, planning, organizing, and directing strategic and operational improvements to expand the trauma registry across the HMC National Trauma System

  • Responsible for the continual enhancement of the trauma registry and trauma service with data integrity through application of best-practice standards

  • Ensure International data standards for trauma centers and trauma systems for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of clinically coded trauma data, in compliance with requirements outlined by the American College of Surgeons-Committee on Trauma and Accreditation Canada International

  • Ensure that trauma registry data are disseminated within an appropriate time frame

  • Engage with key stakeholders and wider trauma system community across HMC


  • Liaise with interdisciplinary team members—both internal and external customers—to ensure a responsive trauma registry service Provide leadership, direction and decision-making support for the trauma registry staff in all HMC trauma system hospitals, directed towards a high quality systemwide data repository

    • Internal: HMC Strategic Office; Corporate Communications; Trauma Research Director; HMC Researchers; Injury Prevention Director; HMC Hospitals; and HMC Ambulance Services
    • External: Supreme Council of Health; Ministry of Labor; Ministry of Interior; other Qatar Government agencies; American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma; and Accreditation Canada International
    • Collaborate with HMC HIS for maintenance and enhancement of the trauma registry to maintain a current clinical database repository
  • Coordinate trauma registry services to deliver consistent high standard of practice through established policies, protocols, and guidelines with monitored compliance

  • Measure and report on quality performance indicators in compliance with international trauma standards

  • Coordinate recruitment, replacement, initial training and on-going education of staff to facilitate optional operation of the trauma registry

  • Ensure an operational atmosphere of team work and effective line management through orientation, staff education, performance reviews, promotion, staff efficiency and effectiveness in-line with corporate standards

Clinical, Coding and Data Reports

  • Generate reports for the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety +Program, Peer review Process, HMC Strategic Plannng Office, HMC researchers, accrediting and regulatory agencies and Qatar governmental agencies

  • Create required accreditation reports and download the trauma registry data for benchmarking and measurement of compliance to international performance indicators in the following accrediting agencies:Maintain clinical skills and protocl evalation by assisting in patient care during trauma codes/ trauma team activations

    • the American College of Surgeons’ Committe on Trauma’s programs that measure -- National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) and Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP); and
    • Accreditation Canada International.
  • Keep abreast of clinical practice standards and trauma coding standards, reporting and information policies

  • Serve as expert resource for trauma-related healthcare providers

  • Assign appropriate codes for each trauma patient diagnosis based on ICD-10, E Codes and the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling System (AAAM-ISS)

  • Ensure compliance of clinical and operational datasets with International trauma standards

  • Maintain clinical knowledge and experience in trauma-related clinical setting

  • Maintain verification of successful completion of clinical Advanced Trauma Course

  • Demonstrate the continued achievement of high standards of trauma coding in order to ensure that both clinicians and managers maintain a high level of confidence in the quality of the registry’s clinical data

  • Maintain confidentiality of trauma registry data per HMC patient confidenitality policy

  • Check and analyses trauma registry data for validity


  • Communicate and collaborate with senior management to ensure adherence to strategy, policy, divison and department activites, requirements, issues that pertain to Trauma System development and necessary changes in order to optimize best practice

  • Promotes and coordiantes with a range of individuals and external organizations and agencies to esure effective service delivery.

  • Liases with leaders and medical professionals in the HMC Trauma Network

  • Compiles, monitors and analyzes statistical data to provide accurate informatio of performance of the HMC Trauma Network.

  • Particpates in management meetings and regularly conducts division meetings

Education/Qualifications Required:

Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Allied Health AND Attends the Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent within 12 months of hire, if not previously completed AND Attends the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling Course within 12 months of hire, if not previously completed AND Completes a minimum of 8 hours of registry-specific continuing education every year

Required certification/licensure: Certification in BLS, ILS, ATCN or ATLS

Language Skills: English – Advanced Essential

Computer Skills: MS Office; Clinical Database Management

Experience Required:

5 years in nursing or medical field, plus 3 years in a clinical database
