Summary

The Staff Nurse , provides professional nursing care in accordance with the mission, vision and values of King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre.

Working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals, the nurse assesses patients, plans and delivers appropriate nursing care, monitors clinical progress and responds effectively to changes in patients’ conditions.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • The nursing degree must have been completed through classroom-based study. Online or distance-learning nursing degrees are not accepted.
  • Must meet Saudi Commission for Health Specialties classification and registration requirements for Nurse Specialist.

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of current, full-time clinical experience following completion of the nursing qualification.
  • Current experience must be in an acute-care hospital.
  • Current clinical experience in Critical Care Pediatrics Care.
  • Current nursing experience must be from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.

License:

  • Current and good-standing Registered Nurse license or registration permitting practice in the candidate’s country of residence.
  • Must hold current professional nursing license from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess and continuously monitor critically ill pediatric patients according to their age, developmental stage, and clinical condition.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, respiratory status, neurological status, and other critical parameters.
  • Provide specialized nursing care to children requiring intensive monitoring and life-support measures.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor and manage patients receiving oxygen therapy, non-invasive ventilation, or mechanical ventilation.
  • Assess and manage pain, sedation, and comfort according to the patient’s condition and treatment plan.
  • Monitor fluid balance, nutritional needs, urine output, and other relevant clinical indicators.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to deterioration or changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Assist physicians and the multidisciplinary team with procedures, treatments, and emergency interventions.
  • Maintain and monitor IV lines, central lines, arterial lines, feeding tubes, drains, and other medical devices.
  • Maintain accurate and complete nursing documentation and patient records.
  • Follow infection prevention and control practices specific to critically ill pediatric patients.
  • Participate in pediatric resuscitation and emergency response according to established protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide clear updates and support to parents and caregivers regarding the child’s condition and plan of care.
  • Educate families on treatments, procedures, medications, and ongoing care as appropriate.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, investigations, transfer, or discharge as required.
  • Follow hospital policies, clinical protocols, and patient safety standards.
