
Hematopathology Consultant
Summary
Within the mission, vision, and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, the Consultant in Hematopathology provides specialized diagnostic services related to hematologic disorders. The consultant is responsible for interpreting laboratory results, diagnosing hematologic malignancies and non-malignant disorders, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. Additionally, the consultant participates in education, training, research, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
- Experience in Oncology Surgery is a must
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret and diagnose hematologic disorders using various laboratory techniques, including morphology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, and immunohistochemistry.
- Provide expert consultation on blood, bone marrow, and lymph node pathology cases, ensuring accurate and timely diagnosis.
- Collaborate with hematologists, oncologists, and other medical professionals to develop appropriate treatment plans for patients with hematologic conditions.
- Supervise and train Associate Consultants, Assistant Consultants, residents, and laboratory personnel in hematopathology techniques and best practices.
- Participate in on-call duties and provide guidance on urgent hematopathology cases.
- Engage in clinical research and contribute to advancements in the field of hematopathology.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, laboratory safety protocols, and quality assurance standards in diagnostic testing.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency and patient care outcomes.
- Maintain clear communication with referring physicians, providing detailed reports and expert recommendations on hematologic diagnoses.
