Summary

Responsible for providing services and advice in both routine and advanced Transfusion and Blood Bank areas including updates and introducing new technology.

Education / Qualification Required:

Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  

  1. Master’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology Study or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology study is a must

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of related experience with Master’s Degree or six (6) years with Bachelor’s Degree is required.  
  • Experience in transfusion / Blood Bank

License:

Current and in a Good Standing Laboratory License/Registration to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Reviews, tests, implements, and updates techniques that will enhance the performance of the section.

  • Develops and introduces newer techniques with research and clinical application. Trains Medical Technologists in the performance of new techniques.
  • Develops teaching materials and periodically update these for teaching of Fellows, Residents, and Medical Technologists.
  • Provides guidance and training in performing and troubleshooting more complex procedures.
  • Ensures and implement proper quality control and procedures for each newly introduced test.
  • Reviews literature periodically and gives necessary assistance for Consultant Pathologists, Fellows, and Senior Residents when help is needed during publications.
  • Performs technical duties as assigned including weekends, night shifts, and on call coverage.
  •  Review and modify section policies, procedures and protocols. Establish a continues quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI,  JCI, CAP, SFDA and other international accreditation agencies standards.
  • Participates in and contributes to quality improvement activities.
  • Follows all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
  • Participates in self and others’ education, training and development, as applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
