Summary

Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of  children and adolescents with autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders.  lead the assessment, diagnosis, and long-term management of complex rheumatologic conditions, including connective tissue diseases and vasculitis. Develop individualized treatment plans, oversee immunomodulatory and biologic therapies, and monitor disease activity and treatment response.

Education/Qualification:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand. 
      • USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)

Experience:

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR  Switzerland,
      • Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy
      • Sub-Specialties: Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
  • Current BLS/ACLS Certificate

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and manage patients with inflammatory, autoimmune, and musculoskeletal rheumatic diseases.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments for acute and chronic rheumatologic conditions.
  • Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans, including DMARDs, biologic therapies, and infusion-based treatments.
  • Prescribe and monitor immunosuppressive medications in line with clinical guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Lead outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations; review, reassess, and follow up on referred cases.
  • Review laboratory investigations, imaging, and immunology results; adjust management plans as needed.
  • Perform and supervise joint injections, aspirations, and other rheumatology procedures within scope of practice.
  • Accept referrals from emergency, internal medicine, orthopedics, primary care, and other specialties.
  • Work closely with allied health professionals including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and pharmacy to deliver coordinated care.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication risks, and long-term management.
  • Promote shared decision-making and patient education to support disease self-management.
  • Supervise and oversee the clinical work of junior doctors, residents, and fellows.
  • Provide teaching, mentorship, and clinical supervision to trainees and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Participate in peer review, case discussions, and performance management activities.
  • Contribute to service development, clinical pathways, and rheumatology programs.
  • Assist in recruitment, orientation, and credentialing of new medical staff as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Comply with hospital policies, informed consent processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, safety reporting, and incident reviews.
  • Engage in research, continuing medical education, and professional development activities.
