Summary

Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and conditions, as well as the provision of medical care in the field of  Dermatology in accordance with the current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the Organization policies and procedures in Saudi Arabia

Education / Qualification Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties – Dermatology ( ABP)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate – Dermatology (FRCPS  )
      • UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register – Dermatology 
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College – Dermatology (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide high standard of care to patients with skin disease and its sequelae in the Division of Dermatology, within the Department of Medicine.
  • To provide state of art outpatient care for Dermatology patients referred from primary care and other specialties within the Department of Medicine and other departments within the hospital.
  • To provide inpatient care for patients admitted to the hospital under his/her name. This inpatient care would involve daily rounds on all patients assigned to Dermatology Performs the necessary procedure either therapeutic or diagnostic. This will also include the supervision and teaching of the rotating dermatology residents. The consultant is also to be obliged by the organization, department and division regulations, which pertains to the patient care.
  • To provide consultation services to other divisions within the department and other departments within the hospital during the regular working hours and on-call
  • To perform diagnostic and or therapeutic interventions and procedures to Dermatology patient for which he or she is granted specific privileges approved by the department and the organization.
  • To participate in the on-call coverage of the Dermatology service in accordance to the rules and regulations of the Division of Dermatology.
  • To attend all the clinical, educational, and patient welfare meetings of the Division of Dermatology as established by the division. Attendance of the general activities of the Department of Medicine is considered an important component of the job of the consultant in Dermatology.
  • To participate in scientific research relevant to skin diseases, contribute in to the division and department educational activities and postgraduate training programs, and to serve in committees as directed by the Head, Division of Dermatology, Department Chairman or the Executive Management of the
  • To optimally utilize resources, show continuous evidence of self-development and participate in Quality Improvement program of the Division of Dermatology and the Department of Medicine.
  • To adhere to all rules and regulations of the Dermatology division, the Department of Medicine, and the organization and to comply with all the APPs and DPPs.
  • To perform other relevant duties and tasks as directed by the Head of Dermatology or the Chairman of the Department of Medicine
  • To comply with all the professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff By-laws of the organization.
  • To show the expected respect, at all times, to patients, their families, colleagues, subordinates and all other members of the healthcare
  • To provide close supervision of the clinical performance of subordinates and to provide them with a role model especially those in training
