Staff Nurse I Specialty A – ICU
Summary
Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and design of nursing care and interventions in the Medical Unit. Function under a collaborative management model where Medicine and Nursing jointly participate in decisions.
Education / Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- OR Associate Degree/Diploma or country equivalent + Bachelor’s in Nursing related field
Experience:
- Experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience post-qualification.
- Minimum of one (1) year in ICU or a related specialty.
License:
Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Perform continuous assessment, monitoring, and management of patients with complex medical conditions.
- Administer medications, treatments, and advanced life support interventions as per physician orders and ICU protocols.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for critically ill patients.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Support patients and families by providing education, updates, and emotional support during critical care episodes.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols within the ICU.
- Operate and manage advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to improving ICU patient care outcomes.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, demonstrating clinical competence in high-pressure situations.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, adjusting care plans based on patient responses.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of critical care nursing practices and participate in professional development activities.
- Assist in preparing and supporting patients for transfer or discharge, ensuring a seamless transition of care.
- Demonstrate respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity toward patients, families, and colleagues.
- Follow all ICU policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain safety and quality standards.
- Participate in clinical audits and data collection to enhance ICU nursing practices.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Engage in mentoring and supporting junior nursing staff or students within the ICU environment.
- Take responsibility for personal actions, decisions, and behaviors, contributing positively to the ICU team.
- Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the ICU’s operational and patient care goals.
