Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and design of nursing care and interventions in the Medical Unit. 

Education / Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • OR Associate Degree/Diploma or country equivalent + Bachelor’s in Nursing related field

Experience:

  • Experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience post-qualification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in Endoscopy or a related specialty.

License:

Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity at all times.
  • Prepare patients physically and emotionally for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns.
  • Assist physicians during endoscopy procedures by managing equipment, monitoring patient responses, and providing required instruments.
  • Perform pre-procedure assessments, including obtaining patient history, verifying informed consent, and ensuring readiness for the procedure.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including sedation, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions during and after procedures.
  • Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs and condition throughout the procedure and during post-procedure recovery.
  • Provide detailed post-procedure care, including discharge instructions, patient education, and follow-up recommendations as needed.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of endoscopy equipment in compliance with infection control protocols and hospital policies.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely documentation of all nursing interventions, patient progress, and outcomes in the medical records.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide coordinated and patient-centered care.
  • Advocate for patient safety, rights, and privacy, ensuring all interactions align with ethical and professional nursing standards.
  • Participate in the orientation, training, and mentorship of new staff, students, and colleagues in the endoscopy unit.
  • Maintain a high level of competency in endoscopy nursing through ongoing education, skills assessments, and participation in professional development opportunities.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and research projects to enhance nursing practice and patient outcomes in the endoscopy unit.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols, including infection control, safety, and emergency response measures.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills when interacting with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and professional work environment, supporting teamwork and collaboration among staff.
  • Assist in inventory management by ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and equipment for endoscopy procedures.
  • Exhibit cultural sensitivity and provide compassionate care to patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the operational and clinical needs of the Endoscopy Unit.
