Summary

The Consultant in Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology specializes in the diagnosing and treating ear, nose, and throat conditions in children, from newborns to teens, focusing on issues like chronic ear infections, tonsillitis, sleep apnea (snoring), hearing loss, speech/swallowing problems (tongue ties), breathing difficulties, and congenital head/neck issues, often requiring surgery for complex cases, and collaborating with other specialists to ensure holistic care.
Education/Qualification:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- Requires a fellowship in Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland,
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.
License:
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluating and managing a wide range of pediatric ENT issues, including hearing loss, communication disorders, sleep apnea, feeding/swallowing problems, and birth defects of the head/neck.
- Performing common surgeries (ear tubes, tonsils) and complex operations for airway, voice, craniofacial, and head/neck tumors.
- Consulting with families, other doctors, and coordinating care for children with complex medical needs.
- Working closely with audiologists, speech therapists, dentists, intensivists, and other pediatric specialists.
- Mentoring medical residents and fellows, participating in academic rounds, and potentially conducting research.
- Running or participating in specific clinics (e.g., voice, sleep, balance, complex airway).
