Summary

Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of  patients with endocrine disorders in children and adolescents with a strong focus on evidence based care and long term follow up. You work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to teaching and clinical excellence, and support families through culturally sensitive, patient centered care in both inpatient and outpatient services.

Education/Qualification:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand. 
      • USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)

Experience:

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR  Switzerland,
      • Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy
      • Sub-Specialties: Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
  • Current BLS/ACLS Certificate

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assume oversight responsibility of daily operation of his/her assigned area in ED (RU/AC/ CDU / RAM / FU & Fast Track).
  • Assists in developing departmental goals and objectives.
  • Assists in the design, implementation, reviews and updates of Policies and Procedures for the ED.
  • Orients and keeps himself/herself and junior staff in the ED updated (initially & periodically
  • after return from annual vacations) regarding the most currently revised hospital and department policies, procedures, standards and rules.
  • Adhere to hospital / departmental regulations on essential physician ED Chart / Best Care documentation, utilization of personal I.D. stamps and B.C. electronic medical records applications as per current phase.
  • Maintains his/her certification status (BLS & ACLS) updated as well as maintaining his/her required CME&T Credits for the Saudi Council for Health Specialties (SCHS).
  • Participates in the implementation of the ED Performance Improvement Projects (PIP); criteria, standards and indicators to evaluate, monitor and implement changes and re-evaluates changes to improve the quality and appropriateness of practice by the department; in accordance with JCIA & CBAHI standards.
  • Assists in making recommendations on the Capital Equipment necessary for the department generally.
  • Participates & attends on assigned hospital committees.
  • Attends and participates in the monthly departmental staff meetings.
  • Attends and participates in the periodic ED Consultant Physician meetings, mortality and morbidity, and quality improvement or other ad-hoc meetings; as requested and or assigned.
  • Monitors, interprets and reports concerning utilization & productivity (e.g. Consultations in ED Policy) statistics.
  • Assists in delegating appropriate duties & responsibilities to staff within the clinical areas commensurate with their education, experience and job description.
  • Liaison & coordination on operational issues with the Nursing Division Leadership (DCN, NS & NM).
  • Liaison & coordination oversight with Patient Relations Supervisor & Officers on patient complaints, sick leave issuance, medical report issuance & follow-up.
  • Assists and leads in training and education of junior staff in maintain skill levels.
  • Assists in conducting annual performance appraisals of ED department staff as requested by the ED Chairman.
  • Become familiar and competently understand his role during Disaster Response, Participates & leads in the implementation of medical contingency disaster plans for the ED; including medical operations oversight, emergency response and medical evacuation during his clinical shift.
  • Supervises and assists Junior ED Members in the care of patients that require special skills because of the nature or severity of their presenting complaint. Assists in training of junior staff to maintain skill levels.
  • Residency Training Program active participation including attendance to {> 50%} of the resident half day activities & in training and evaluation within the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chairman, Department of Emergency Medicine and to the Executive Director, Medical Services, CR, which are within the post-holder’s qualifications and capabilities.
