Summary
The Staff Nurse , provides professional nursing care in accordance with the mission, vision and values of King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre.
Working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals, the nurse assesses patients, plans and delivers appropriate nursing care, monitors clinical progress and responds effectively to changes in patients’ conditions.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- The nursing degree must have been completed through classroom-based study. Online or distance-learning nursing degrees are not accepted.
- Must meet Saudi Commission for Health Specialties classification and registration requirements for Nurse Specialist.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum two years of current, full-time clinical experience following completion of the nursing qualification.
- Current experience must be in an acute-care hospital.
- Current clinical experience in Cardiac Surgical ICU.
- Current nursing experience must be from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
License:
- Current and good-standing Registered Nurse license or registration permitting practice in the candidate’s country of residence.
- Must hold current professional nursing license from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients following cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery.
- Receive and stabilize patients directly from the operating room or post-anesthesia care area.
- Perform ongoing assessments of cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, renal, and other relevant systems.
- Monitor and interpret hemodynamic parameters and recognize changes in the patient’s clinical condition.
- Manage patients requiring invasive monitoring, including arterial and central venous pressure monitoring.
- Care for patients with mechanical ventilation and assist with ventilator-related management in collaboration with the clinical team.
- Administer medications, blood products, fluids, and vasoactive and other high-risk medications according to hospital policies.
- Monitor and manage drains, chest tubes, surgical wounds, urinary catheters, and other invasive devices.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize and respond appropriately to arrhythmias and other cardiac complications.
- Assist with the management of postoperative bleeding, hemodynamic instability, respiratory complications, and other critical events.
- Provide care for patients requiring temporary pacing and other cardiac support therapies.
- Participate in emergency interventions, resuscitation, and rapid response activities when required.
- Monitor laboratory and diagnostic results and communicate significant findings promptly to the medical team.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, medications, and clinical progress.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to the development and evaluation of individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment, recovery, and ongoing care as appropriate.
- Promote infection prevention, patient safety, and compliance with hospital policies and clinical standards.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical education, and professional development activities.
