Summary

The Staff Nurse , provides professional nursing care in accordance with the mission, vision and values of King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre.

Working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals, the nurse assesses patients, plans and delivers appropriate nursing care, monitors clinical progress and responds effectively to changes in patients’ conditions.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • The nursing degree must have been completed through classroom-based study. Online or distance-learning nursing degrees are not accepted.
  • Must meet Saudi Commission for Health Specialties classification and registration requirements for Nurse Specialist.

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of current, full-time clinical experience following completion of the nursing qualification.
  • Current experience must be in an acute-care hospital.
  • Current clinical experience in ICU or Emergency Department
  • Current nursing experience must be from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.

License:

  • Current and good-standing Registered Nurse license or registration permitting practice in the candidate’s country of residence.
  • Must hold current professional nursing license from North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and assess patients admitted from the Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, procedural areas, operating rooms, or other healthcare facilities.
  • Complete comprehensive nursing admission assessments, including medical history, current condition, medications, allergies, pain, functional status, and safety risks.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and other relevant clinical assessments.
  • Identify changes in the patient’s condition and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate physician or clinical team.
  • Review patient diagnoses, treatment plans, orders, laboratory results, and diagnostic information.
  • Perform medication reconciliation and identify discrepancies or potential medication-related concerns.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies according to physician orders and hospital policies.
  • Initiate nursing interventions based on the patient’s condition and established care plans.
  • Monitor patients for signs of clinical deterioration and respond appropriately, including activating rapid response or emergency services when required.
  • Coordinate patient admissions and transfers to the appropriate inpatient unit based on clinical needs and bed availability.
  • Provide clear and accurate handover to the receiving nursing team.
  • Communicate relevant patient information to physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients and families regarding the admission process, treatment plan, medications, procedures, and expected course of care.
  • Assist patients and families with questions or concerns related to their hospital admission.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Ensure that admission documentation, orders, assessments, and required forms are completed accurately.
  • Assist with patient preparation for diagnostic tests, procedures, or transfer to another clinical area.
  • Maintain patient safety through appropriate fall prevention, infection prevention, pressure injury prevention, and other safety measures.
  • Support efficient patient flow and timely movement of patients to inpatient units.
  • Collaborate with bed management, physicians, inpatient units, allied health professionals, and other departments to facilitate admissions and transfers.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and clinical practice activities.
  • Follow hospital policies, procedures, professional standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
