Summary

Ophthalmologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the front part of the eye, including the cornea, conjunctiva, iris, and lens

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: The American Board of Ophthalmology
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC – Ophthalmology)
      • UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register -Ophthalmology
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP – Ophthalmology)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
  3. Experience in Cornea / Anterior Segment

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES)
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As Most Responsible Physician (MRP) of patients admitted under his/her name, ensures optimal care of those patients.
  • Cooperate with other Consultants, Section Heads and Chairman in day-to-day department affairs including morbidity/mortality and quality improvement activities.
  • Ensures that all middle grade and junior staff in the team carry out their duties appropriately. Teaches and guides them in all aspects of surgical care.
  • Responsible for timely completion of medical records and also the quality of the records.
  • Undertakes duties as assigned by Section Head and Chairman.
  • Partakes in committee duties as requested or nominated, representing section head when requested.
  • Undertakes outpatient, inpatient and operating duties with punctuality and in a professional manner.
  • Organizes academic and teaching activities as necessary
  • Responsible for Associate and Assistant Consultants, Staff Surgeons, Residents and Interns on the team.
    Liaises with other consultants and senior staff as indicated.
  • Perform other job related duties.
