
Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant
Summary
Within the mission, vision, and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, the Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynecology provides specialized care in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions related to pregnancy, childbirth, and the female reproductive system. The consultant is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, participating in the education and training of medical staff, engaging in clinical research, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide expert care in obstetric and gynecologic conditions, including high-risk pregnancies, infertility, menstrual disorders, and gynecologic cancers.
- Perform obstetric and gynecologic procedures, including cesarian sections, hysterectomies, laparoscopic surgeries, and other advanced surgical interventions.
- Supervise and guide Associate Consultants, Assistant Consultants, residents, and medical students in clinical practice and procedures.
- Participate in on-call duties and provide emergency obstetric and gynecologic care when required.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and other specialists, to optimize maternal and fetal outcomes.
- Implement evidence-based practices and ensure adherence to hospital policies and international guidelines in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Engage in research activities and contribute to advancements in women’s health and reproductive medicine.
- Conduct patient education and counseling on prenatal care, family planning, menopause management, and gynecologic health.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and patient safety protocols in all obstetric and gynecologic procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, safety, and hospital efficiency.
