Summary
The Orthopedic Consultant provides specialist diagnosis, surgical and non-surgical management of hip and knee conditions.
Education/Qualification:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Austria, Blegium, France, Germany, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden Switzerland Australia OR New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC -in Orthopedic Surgery)
- UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register – (Orthopedic Surgery)
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Orthopedic Surgery
- Qualification Source from: North America, Austria, Blegium, France, Germany, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden Switzerland Australia OR New Zealand.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland,
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
License:
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions in patients of all ages and activity levels.
- Perform comprehensive clinical examinations and interpret diagnostic investigations, including X-rays, MRI, CT scans, ultrasound, and other relevant imaging studies.
- Diagnose and manage common sports injuries affecting the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and soft tissues.
- Develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans, including medication, physiotherapy, exercise programs, injections, and referrals for surgical intervention when required.
- Manage acute injuries such as fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries, muscle strains, tendon injuries, and joint-related conditions.
- Provide injury prevention advice and develop strategies to help athletes and physically active patients reduce the risk of future injuries.
- Assess patients’ fitness and readiness to return to sport or physical activity following injury, illness, or surgery.
- Perform or oversee sports medicine procedures, including joint and soft tissue injections and ultrasound-guided procedures, within the scope of practice and hospital privileges.
- Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, radiologists, nutritionists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- Provide medical support and consultation for professional and recreational athletes, sports teams, and physically active individuals when required.
- Develop exercise, conditioning, and rehabilitation recommendations to support recovery and improve physical performance.
- Provide pre-participation medical assessments and evaluate athletes with medical conditions that may affect their ability to participate safely in sports.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, medical reports, treatment plans, and patient records.
- Participate in quality improvement programs, clinical audits, research, and the development of sports medicine protocols and services.
- Supervise and train residents, fellows, and junior medical staff.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection prevention protocols
