Summary
This position is affiliated with Cincinnati’s Children’s hospital in the USA. The Consultant in Pediatric Neurology Oncology is responsible for providing specialized medical care to children diagnosed with neurological complications related to cancer and its treatments. This role involves clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex neuro-oncological conditions, as well as collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care. The consultant also contributes to research initiatives, clinical trials, and the development of advanced treatment protocols aimed at improving outcomes and quality of life for pediatric patients with neurological and oncological disorders.
Education/Qualification:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland,
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy
- Sub-Specialties: Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.
License:
- Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate patient care tailored to pediatric neuro-oncology cases.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, neurological examinations, and interpret diagnostic results.
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to design and implement treatment plans for complex neuro-oncological conditions.
- Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate for neurological oncology patients.
- Educate patients, families, and staff on neuro-oncological conditions and treatment options.
- Contribute to clinical research, support clinical trials, and advance new protocols in pediatric neuro-oncology.
- Maintain effective, timely communication with patients, families, colleagues, and care teams.
- Supervise, mentor, and educate junior staff, trainees, and fellows in pediatric neuro-oncology.
- Stay current with innovations and evidence-based practices in pediatric neuro-oncology, integrating these into patient care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, hospital, and professional guidelines.
- Participate in outreach, community education, or advocacy activities for pediatric patients with neurological and oncological illnesses.
