Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian National Guard – Health Affairs, to provide patient care; education and training for Associate Consultants, Assistant Consultants and  Medicine residents. Undertake clinical research; self education and participate in on-call schedule of the Division of  Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from a recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
      • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
      • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
  • Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures quality and appropriateness of patient care and safety.
  • Follows Organizational/Departmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with physical disabilities, musculoskeletal conditions, neurological impairments, and chronic pain.
  • Develops and implements personalized rehabilitation treatment plans to improve patient function, mobility, and quality of life.
  • Conducts electrodiagnostic studies (EMG, NCS) to assess neuromuscular disorders.
  • Performs and oversees image-guided musculoskeletal interventions such as joint injections, nerve blocks, and spasticity management (e.g., botulinum toxin injections).
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and pain specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Monitors progress of rehabilitation programs, adjusting treatments as needed to achieve patient recovery goals.
  • Provides guidance on assistive devices, prosthetics, and orthotics to enhance patient independence.
  • Educates patients and families on rehabilitation techniques, lifestyle modifications, and long-term management strategies.
  • Participates in hospital-based quality improvement initiatives, research, and education related to physical medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Ensures documentation and record-keeping comply with hospital policies and medical standards.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation services.
  • Participates in the training and mentorship of junior doctors, residents, and allied health professionals within the department.
