Summary
Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian National Guard – Health Affairs, to provide patient care; education and training for Associate Consultants, Assistant Consultants and Medicine residents. Undertake clinical research; self education and participate in on-call schedule of the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Basic medical degree from a recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures quality and appropriateness of patient care and safety.
- Follows Organizational/Departmental Policies and Procedures.
- Provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with physical disabilities, musculoskeletal conditions, neurological impairments, and chronic pain.
- Develops and implements personalized rehabilitation treatment plans to improve patient function, mobility, and quality of life.
- Conducts electrodiagnostic studies (EMG, NCS) to assess neuromuscular disorders.
- Performs and oversees image-guided musculoskeletal interventions such as joint injections, nerve blocks, and spasticity management (e.g., botulinum toxin injections).
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and pain specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
- Monitors progress of rehabilitation programs, adjusting treatments as needed to achieve patient recovery goals.
- Provides guidance on assistive devices, prosthetics, and orthotics to enhance patient independence.
- Educates patients and families on rehabilitation techniques, lifestyle modifications, and long-term management strategies.
- Participates in hospital-based quality improvement initiatives, research, and education related to physical medicine and rehabilitation.
- Ensures documentation and record-keeping comply with hospital policies and medical standards.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation services.
- Participates in the training and mentorship of junior doctors, residents, and allied health professionals within the department.
