Summary
Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and design of nursing care and interventions in the Neonatal Care Unit. Function under a collaborative management model where Medicine and Nursing jointly participate in decisions.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience post qualification
- Minimum One (1) year in the Neonatal Unit
License:
Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate advanced neonatal nursing knowledge and clinical competence in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery.
- Provide comprehensive care to premature and critically ill neonates, including ventilated and medically complex infants.
- Monitor and manage neonatal patients receiving respiratory support, parenteral nutrition, phototherapy, and specialized medications.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatric subspecialists, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team within the scope of the Registered Nurse license.
- Perform continuous assessment of neonates, identify clinical changes promptly, and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Support family-centered care by educating and guiding parents on neonatal conditions, feeding, infection prevention, and discharge planning.
- Advocate for neonates’ safety, rights, and individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation according to hospital policies and neonatal care standards.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control measures specific to neonatal settings.
- Participate in neonatal resuscitation and emergency response as required.
- Act as a clinical resource and mentor for junior nurses and new staff within the neonatal unit.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing neonatal complications and improving patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical audits and neonatal research activities where applicable.
- Support breastfeeding initiatives and developmental care practices.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity, compassion, and professional communication with families and healthcare staff.
- Assist in reviewing neonatal nursing policies, procedures, and evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Assume accountability for professional practice and ongoing competency development.
- Perform additional neonatal nursing duties as assigned by the unit leadership.
