Cyclotron & Radiopharmaceuticals Chairperson
Summary
Responsible for leading and overseeing the Cyclotron & Radiopharmaceuticals department, ensuring the advancement of radiopharmaceutical production, quality assurance, and clinical applications of radiotracers for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. This role combines expertise in radiopharmaceutical science, focusing on the production and use of isotopes in nuclear medicine, and leadership in fostering innovation, compliance, and safety in radiopharmaceutical development and cyclotron operations.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Doctorate Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent in scientific discipline with a strong background in cyclotron and
radiopharmaceuticals from an accredited university/institution - Additional Requirements: Demonstrated research productivity through publications in reputable, relevant peer-reviewed journals
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Twelve (12) years after board/equivalent certification in North America, Canada, Western Europe or Australia
- Five (5) years extensive administrative/supervisory experience
License/Registration:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License or registration to practice from North America, Western Europe or Australia
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to develop, implement, and continuously monitor the department’s goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, updating them as necessary to align with institutional priorities.
- Implement directives from the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, Research Centre Credentials Committee, and Research Advisory Council.
- Coordinate with the Research Centre Administration and clinical departments on cyclotron production, radiopharmaceutical distribution, and related regulatory compliance.
- Ensure adherence to international standards of safety and quality in cyclotron operations and radiopharmaceutical production.
- Enforce and monitor adherence of all staff to the Hospital and Research Centre Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations.
- Promote and direct the department’s overall research and scientific activities, fostering innovation in radiopharmaceutical development and applications.
- Develop strategies to advance radiopharmaceutical production processes, ensuring alignment with institutional needs for nuclear medicine diagnostics and therapies.
- Maintain uninterrupted cyclotron operations and the reliable supply of radiopharmaceuticals, supporting clinical and research activities.
- Evaluate staffing adequacy and implement mechanisms to ensure high-quality departmental support for hospital operations.
- Lead the recruitment, selection, and retention of qualified professionals through the effective use of credentialing policies and procedures.
- Conduct ongoing reviews and annual performance evaluations for all staff, in collaboration with Section Heads and Immediate Supervisors.
- Facilitate continuous professional development and training for staff to ensure compliance with evolving safety and regulatory standards.
- Align departmental goals with the institution’s mission and vision, ensuring that cyclotron and radiopharmaceutical activities contribute to long-term organizational success.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration within and outside the institution to expand research and clinical applications of radiopharmaceuticals.
