Summary

As a Consultant in Neurology Stroke Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), you will provide expert clinical care for patients with acute and chronic stroke and other cerebrovascular disorders. Your duties include conducting neurological assessments, interpreting neuroimaging, managing acute stroke interventions such as thrombolysis and thrombectomy, and coordinating stroke prevention and rehabilitation

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: American Board of  Medicine (ABM) 
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) 
      • UK & Ireland: CCT in Orthopedic Medicine and GMC Specialist Register
      • Australia & New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent board certification

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum (5) years of experience as a Consultant in Neurology

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Lead and oversee the stroke program and neurology services within the hospital
  • Provide expert clinical care for patients with acute stroke, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), and other cerebrovascular diseases.
  • Perform advanced stroke interventions such as thrombolysis and thrombectomy procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments and interpreting diagnostic imaging.
  • Manage inpatient and outpatient stroke care, including follow-up and secondary prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including neurologists, radiologists, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists to provide holistic patient care.
  • Participate actively in clinical research, quality improvement projects, and development of stroke service protocols.
  • Educateand mentoring junior medical staff, trainees, patients, and families on stroke management and prevention.
  • Contribute to regional stroke service planning and healthcare strategy aligned with HMC’s mission for effective and compassionate care.
