Summary

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Senior Consultant leads complex surgical care for patients with cardiac and thoracic conditions. You handle advanced open and minimally invasive procedures, interpret diagnostic results, and guide surgical planning from first consult to follow up. You also support ICU teams with perioperative management and provide input on high-risk cases

Education/Qualifications Required:

  1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  2. Post-qualification certification
    • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.  
      • USA: American Board of  Medicine (ABM) 
      • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) 
      • UK & Ireland: CCT in Orthopedic Medicine and GMC Specialist Register
      • Australia & New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
      • Western Europe: Equivalent board certification

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum (5) years of experience as a Senior Consultant in Cardiothoracic Surgery 

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Performing major cardiac and thoracic surgeries
  • Managing pre and post operative care
  • Reviewing cardiac imaging and diagnostic data
  • Participating in on call coverage for urgent and emergency cases
  • Working with cardiology, anesthesia, ICU, respiratory care, radiology, and rehabilitation teams
  • Teaching junior doctors and contributing to department training activities
  • Taking part in research and quality improvement projects
