Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, lead, manage and oversee the activities of the assigned Nursing departments by assuming a 24-hour accountability; oversee clinical nursing performance and priority setting underpinned by the development of policy, procedures and guidelines.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • OR Associate Degree/Diploma or country equivalent + Bachelor’s in Nursing related field

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience post-qualification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in pain management or a related specialty.

License:

  • Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate pain management practices within the Mental Health Center, promoting safe, effective and patient-centered pain control strategies.
  • Provide clinical guidance and bedside support to nursing staff in assessing and managing pain, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and evidence-based practice.
  • Educate and train nursing staff on pain assessment tools, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, and safe use of analgesics.
  • Promote accurate and consistent pain assessment, including the use of validated pain scales appropriate for mental health patients.
  • Monitor compliance with pain management protocols, documentation standards and reassessment practices through regular audits and rounds.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams to develop and optimize individualized pain management plans.
  • Support the safe use of pain medications, including opioids and adjuvant therapies, while minimizing risks such as over-sedation, dependency and adverse effects.
  • Identify, review and report pain management-related incidents or gaps in care; implement corrective actions and improvement strategies.
  • Participate in the development, review and implementation of pain management policies, procedures and clinical guidelines aligned with organizational standards.
  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives focused on pain management outcomes and patient experience.
  • Assess and validate nursing competencies in pain assessment and management; address knowledge and performance gaps in collaboration with leadership.
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor for nurses, students and new staff, promoting best practices in pain management within mental health settings.
  • Maintain accurate records of education, competency assessments, audits and quality activities; prepare reports as required.
  • Address complex pain management needs in mental health patients, including challenges related to communication, behavior and comorbid conditions.
  • Promote a culture of patient-centered care, safety and continuous improvement in pain management practices.
  • Participate in committees, meetings and organizational initiatives related to pain management and quality of care.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
