Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, lead, manage and oversee the activities of the assigned Nursing departments by assuming a 24-hour accountability; oversee clinical nursing performance and priority setting underpinned by the development of policy, procedures and guidelines.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing/Management from an accredited institution

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 (ten) years’ current clinical nursing experience following licensure/ registration in the country of origin, 5 (five) years of which in comparable capacity 

License:

  • Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate and oversee daily operating room activities within the Mental Health Center, ensuring safe and efficient surgical services.
  • Organize and manage OR schedules, case assignments and staff allocation to support smooth surgical workflow and patient flow.
  • Ensure nursing staff and all learners provide perioperative care within scope of practice, policies, procedures and established standards.
  • Coordinate pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative processes, ensuring readiness of patients, staff, equipment and documentation.
  • Supervise and support OR nursing staff, providing clinical guidance and resolving operational issues during surgical procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, sterile techniques and patient safety protocols throughout all surgical activities.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate surgical care and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Monitor compliance with surgical safety checklists, time-out procedures and documentation standards.
  • Identify, report and follow up on incidents, near misses and safety concerns; implement corrective actions as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to surgical services, patient safety and OR efficiency.
  • Ensure availability, functionality and proper use of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies; coordinate with sterile processing and support services.
  • Support staff education and competency validation in perioperative nursing practices and OR protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of OR activities, utilization, staffing and performance metrics; prepare reports as required.
  • Assist in planning and optimizing OR utilization, turnover times and resource management.
  • Promote effective communication and teamwork within the OR and across departments.
  • Participate in meetings, committees and organizational initiatives related to surgical and patient care services.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
