Summary
As a Charge Nurse in the Surgical ward at King Fahad Military Medical Complex, you will apply advanced nursing knowledge to patient assessment, care planning, and intervention. in Dhahran. In this leadership role, you will oversee nursing staff, ensure high-quality patient care, and maintain efficient unit operations.
Education / Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- OR… Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing (or country equivalent) + Bachelor’s in a Nursing-related field.
Experience Required
Current related experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand is a must.
- Minimum of (3) three years experience after certification out of which 2 years as staff nurse and minimum 1 year current experience as Charge Nurse in the Neonatal ICU.
License & Certifications
Current and in Good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides clinical supervision and guidance to the nursing team during each shift.
- Maintains the highest standards of patient care and serves as a resource for unit staff.
- Leads and models patient experience initiatives across the continuum of care while collaborating interprofessionally within the facility.
- Provides direct patient care and other nursing duties as necessary.
- Ensures comprehensive unit handovers to the next in-charge nurse at shift change.
- Assists the Nurse Manager in unit promotion and recruitment interviews.
- Supports the development of staff at all levels to maintain a high-performing workforce and adequate succession planning.
- Fosters the growth and development of a national workforce.
- Assists the Nurse Manager in ensuring all nurses maintain competencies.
- Conducts unit staff performance evaluations as delegated by the Nurse Manager.
- Provides required coverage for the Nurse Manager in their absence.
- Ensures adherence to hospital policies, infection control, safety, and ethical guidelines.
- Supports, develops, and ensures compliance with evidence-based policies, procedures, and guidelines in fulfillment of regulatory requirements.
- Actively participates in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives aligned with the hospital’s Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
- Manages and reports incidents to the Nurse Manager and investigates as required.
- Maintains the safe custody and administration of medications in accordance with MODH and hospital policies.
