Nurse Manager Transplant Medical Surgical
Summary
Responsible for coordinating a patient’s care through every step of the transplantation process.
Education / Qualification Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience:
- Minimum Three (3) years of current clinical experience in specific area plus two (2) years in comparable management position
- Experience in Transplant Medical Surgical Unit is a must
License:
- Current and in Good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice
- Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process
- Demonstrates knowledge and clinic assessment skills
- Documents nursing interactions on the patients clinical record
- Supervises care provided by maintaining high visibility (90% clinical presence) to patients/families and staff in the clinical area(s)
- Completes assigned responsibilities within established hospital, divisional and unit specific guidelines, policies and procedures, standards, protocols, etc.
- Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with patients/families, other health care team members and staff of other departments
Administration
- Staff Management to include recruitment, education, training, evaluation and development, as well as preparation and delegation of work schedules and workflow
- Provides managerial support as required
- Provides leadership and resource role in the provision of patient care and unit activities
- Assists staff in development of problem solving and decision making skills
- Maintains all records pertaining to the operation of the area of assigned and generates reports as required
Education & Research
- Participates in unit orientation for new employees
- Assists and supports staff in the development of their roles on the unit
- Uses research/current literature in the provision/supervision of evidence-based care.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth
- Participates in teaching and mentoring of Nursing, Medical and
- Paramedical Students, Interns and Residents
Quality
- Complies with Hospital Infection Control and Safety Protocols
- Develops implements and participates in Quality Improvement
- Processes activities
- Participates actively in the quality improvement program of the area(s)
- Anticipates and acts to maintain a safe environment
- Works with members of the health care team in activities designed to improve patient care outcomes
- Monitors effectiveness of standards of patient care and nursing policies and procedures, appropriately refers deviations
