Cardiac Surgery Consultant
Summary
The consultant Cardiac Consultant is responsible for surgical procedures of the heart.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
- Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate and perform second on-call physician for monthly roster (cardiac surgery).
- Perform as primary operator in the various cardiac specialties, i.e. interventional and diagnostic cases, cardiac surgeries (CABG, open/close heart surgeries, implantation, etc.).
- In-charge of assigned academic activities i.e. journal presentation, cardiac surgery lectures, etc.
- Perform as Consultant in-Charge as delegated in the covered specialty area.
- Participate/serve in the various hospital or departmental committee as directed.
- Participate in the educational programs/activities as well as any graduate/postgraduate education that might develop.
- Supervise and evaluate residents rotating in the cardiac surgery services.
- Participate in the various hospital/departmental medical reviews and investigations.
- Supervise and involve in the research studies/works of junior staff.
- Must be flexible to cover other duties as needed by members of the staff.
- Participate in the Quality Improvement Management.
- Must strictly adhere hospital and medical protocols, policies and regulations.
- Role model for junior staff in academic, clinical, social and ethical aspects.
- Ensure delivery of cardiac surgery services on a higher professional level.
- Perform other duties as delegated by the Chairman of Cardiac Sciences or Division Head.
